Big Marlin/Little Marlin

Dear Parents & Swimmers,

It has been a tradition to have Big Marlin/Little Marlin pairings in Florida.  Every swimmer age 13 & over is considered a Big Marlin, while every swimmer age 12 & under is considered a Little Marlin.  A few of the Big Marlins will be assigned two Little Marlins.

The purpose of the pairings is to:

1.      Help promote unity between the older and younger Marlins

2.      To have the Big & Little Marlins cheer for each other when the other is not competing

3.      To give the younger Marlins an older swimmer to help them out during the meet

The Big Marlins and Little Marlins will do the following:

1.      Exchange gifts while in Florida

**Please note that gifts should be no more than $10.  All gifts should be appropriate in nature and should help promote a fun weekend for all.

2.      Have lunch together after the morning session on Friday, April 14th.  All Marlins, Big & Small, are responsible for the cost of their own lunches.

3.      Spend time together at the Swim Meet itself.  Parents, please keep in mind that the Big Marlin/Little Marlin pairing is not intended as a free babysitting service.  Please do not ask the Big Marlins to watch your children for you.  A few parents have taken advantage of the situation in the past.  Remember, YOU are responsible for your children.

**To parents of swimmers, 13 & over:

On Friday evening, April 14th, we will try to organize a dinner for all swimmers, ages 13 & over.  We will need your help in driving the swimmers to and from dinner.  Swimmers are responsible for the cost of their own meal.  All 13 & over swimmers are expected to attend.

Additional Reminders:

1.      All swimmers attending this year’s Boys & Girls Clubs National Championships have purchased a National Championship Team T-shirt as well as 2 caps.  Please be sure the shirt is worn at the meet and that the caps are used at the meet.  (We know that swimmers will not wear the same shirt for three days.  Please be sure to pack other Marlins apparel to be worn at the meet.)

2.      A Mandatory Team Meeting for all swimmers going to Florida will be held Wednesday, April 5th at 5:45pm.

Thank you!  We are looking forward to a great time in Florida!  Please help us make this team experience a memorable one as we say goodbye to our graduating seniors!
