Dennis Munson
Head Coach - Aquatic Director
|
Head Coach, Dennis Munson, joined the "Boys Club of Mt. Kisco" in 1968, as an swimming instructor and as gym program coordinator. In 1977, Dennis became the Club's Aquatic Director. Dennis found his true calling as coach of the now defunct "Dennis' Menaces Swim Team", first as Assistant Coach in 1969, then as Head Coach from 1971 to 1979. It is during those years that he coached a 10&under named Rick Carey, who would later become an Olympian backstroker. In the fall of 1983, Dennis
went back to coaching a new swim team, the "Performers", which became
The Marlins, two years later, when Dennis took over as Head
Coach. In addition to being full time Aquatic Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester (formerly known as the Boys & Girls Club of Mount Kisco), and head coach of the Marlins Swim Team, Dennis also coaches the Masters Swim Team and is a swimming instructor for the Club's Nursery School. On December 26, 2000 many Marlins Alumni and their families "Surprised" Dennis with a 50th Birthday Party and "Roast" at a hotel in White Plains. On April 25, 2003 nearly 150 community supporters, board members and staff gathered to honor Dennis at the Holiday Inn in Mount Kisco. The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the "Dennis Munson Aquatic Program" in recognition of Dennis' 35 years of dedication to the Club. He lives in New Fairfield, Connecticut with his wife Amy, and their children Katherine (a former Marlins swimmer who is now a senior at Bucknell University) and Chris (a freshman in college). |
