Laura Polhill
Age Group Coach

Laura is entering her seventh year of coaching the Marlins. She lives in Brewster, NY, home of the Brewster Bears. Laura's two children, Drew and Ali, are active members of the senior team and her husband, Brad, is a parent volunteer who you may see at the timing console at our home meets.

Laura fully understands the dedication and hard work that come along with being a competitive swimmer. She practices with the Westchester Masters swim team at the Boys & Girls Club from September to June. Her hard work paid off when she achieved all personal life time bests at the US Masters Nationals which was held in Coral Springs, FL in May of 2006. There she met former Olympians Rowdy Gaines and Dara Torres and cannot wait to participate in the 2007 Nationals in Federal Way, Washington.

Laura is a certified safety instructor (WSI), certified pool operator (CPO), and has received accreditation with the American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA). During the USA-Swimming Short Course season, Laura has proven that she is a dedicated member of the coaching staff with boundless enthusiasm for the sport which surely rubs off on the swimmers that she coaches.

Laura will be coaching the three year old Brewster High School Boys' Swimming Team this winter. The team's future is looking brighter with two state qualifiers last year and the promise of challenging for the Section 1 Division B title this year.

During the summer months, Laura is the Assistant Manager at the Willowbrook Swim Club as well as the head coach of the swimming Team. Under her guidance, the Willowbrook Swim Team has lost only one swim meet in the past seven seasons which tallies a record of 34-1-1 during this time period including being crowned division champions 6 times. This was certainly the best year Willowbrook has ever had. Not only did they win their first ever Division 1 Swimming Championship meet and their first ever Division 1 Diving Championship, but they also finished 5th overall at the Westchester County Swimming Championships (first out of all Northern Westchester Swim Conference teams.

Most of all, however, Laura wants all the swimmers to remember to have fun, be positive, and enjoy being a "Marlin". It is an experience that you will enjoy and take with you for the rest of your life.

Good luck to everybody in the 2006-2007 season.
