David Carlson

As A Marlin

David was a Marlin for 10 years and was one of the Co-Captain during the 1997-98 season, his last as a Marlin. A long distance freestyler, David qualified for the Metropolitan Zone Team in 1993, 1995 and 1998. He was part of the 800 Free Relay that swam at the 1998 Speedo Junior Championships at the Goodwill Games Complex in East Meadow, Long Island (with Thomas Volper, Travis French and Eric Mitchell). That same year, David held the 1000 freestyle team record.
David will attend the
University of Connecticut.  

In High School

David graduated from Yorktown High School. He was a co-captain of the swim team during his Senior Year. He swam at the State Championships and made the All-Section Team.

At U-Conn

As a Freshman, David swam the 200 (1:44.78), 500 (4:39.26) and 1650 freestyle at Big East and placed 16th  in the mile (16:15.37).
As a Sophomore, Dave swam the same three events at Big East: 200 (1:46.32), 500 (4:40.76), and placed 15th in the mile (16:13.87).

As a Junior, David finished 11th in the 1650 at Big East (15:57.58). His times in the 200 & 500 free were 1:43.50 and 4:39.70. That same year, he was a member the 800 free relay that finished 5th at Big East.
David is now a Senior at U-Conn. He is a
co-captain of the men varsity team. So far this season (2001-02), David's best times are 1:44.48 in the 200 free, 4:39.58 in the 500 free, and 9:58.20 in the 1000 free. His best time this year in the 200 back is 2:03.18. David finished third in the mile at the Notre Dame Invitational (15:57.58). David finished 10th in the mile at the 2002 Big East Championships (15:55.53 - BEQ). He swam the 500 free in 4:36.68.
Beside swimming, Dave has been a member of
S.A.A.C. (Student Athlete Advisory Committee) since he was a sophomore. He was also a member of P.A.A.C. (President Athletic Advisory Committee).
David graduated in May 2002 with a major in Psychology.
