Marlins Win 8th Consecutive Boys & Girls Clubs Nationals

The Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins won their eighth consecutive National title at the 2007 Speedo Boys & Girls Clubs National Short Course Swimming Championships.
The three-day meet was held recently at the North Shore Pool in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Tampa-based Carrollwood Village Swim Team hosted the 22nd annual Trials and Finals event.
The Marlins dominated a field of eleven teams and won the meet with a cumulative score of 10,594 points. The Tidewater Aquatic Club of Virginia finished in second place (2,490 points). They were followed by the Woburn Boys & Girls Club of New England (1,571 points) and the Mighty Ducks of Sudbury, MA, (1,386.50 points).
Genna McLaughlin of Yorktown and Steffi Niessl of Brewster scored the maximum point total of 160 points to win the High Point Award in their age group, winning all 8 events they swam while setting many meets and Marlins Swim Team Records.
Sixteen-year-old Steffi Niessl won eight events, setting five new Boys & Girls Clubs Nationals meet records and one Marlins Team Record. She placed first in the Women Open division 50 yd freestyle (24.58 – meet record), 100 free (53.42), 500 free (5:13.27), 100 backstroke (57.41 – meet record), 200 back (2:04.48 – meet record), 100 butterfly (56.99 – meet record), 200 fly (2:05.40 – meet & Marlins record), and the 400 individual medley (4:35.99).
Ten-year-old Genna McLaughlin, who set one team and one meet records, won the 10-under girls 50 free (29.23), 100 free (1:02.43), 200 free (2:13.00 – meet and team records), 500 free (6:02.26), 50 breaststroke (39.02), 100 breaststroke (1:22.99), 100 individual medley (1:13.33) and 200 IM (2:36.10).
Fourteen-year-old Ali Polhill of Brewster took home the High Point Award in the 13-14 girls division. Ali scored 156 individual points. She finished first in the 50 free (25.10), 100 free (55.01), 200 free (1:59.45), 500 free (5:17.19), 100 fly (58.94 – meet record), 200 IM (2:12.65) and 400 IM (4:40.98). Polhill also finished third in the 200 fly.
Felipe Carvao of Chappaqua won the High Point Award in the 8-under boys age group. Scoring 155.50 points, Felipe won the 50 free (35.36), tied for 1st in the 25 back (19.67), won the 25 breaststroke (20.32), 50 breaststroke (45.59), 25 fly (17.02), 50 fly (41.30) and 100 IM (1:26.48). He finished in second place in the 100 free.
Will Rappaport of Pound Ridge scored 154 points and took home the High Point Award in the 11-12 boys division. Will won six events: the 500 free (5:29.71), 50 breaststroke (33.47), 100 breaststroke (1:13.74), 100 fly (1:04.02), 100 IM (1:05.09) and 200 IM (2:19.43). He placed second in the 100 and 200 free.
Cate Sawkins of Chappaqua won the High Point in the 8-Under Girls Division. She scored 149 points and won five events: the 25 back (19.26), 50 back (39.82), 25 fly (18.01), 50 fly (40.06), and the 100 IM. Cate also finished second in the 25 and 100 free.
Seven-year-old Mark McLaughlin of Yorktown scored 145.50 points and won the 8-under boys second place High Point Award. Mark won the 25 free (16.04), 100 free (1:17.79), tied for 1st in the 25 back (19.67), and won the 50 back (40.12). Mark also took second place in the 50 free, 50 fly and 100 IM and third place in the 25 fly.
Ian Cooper of Chappaqua won the High Point Award in the 9-10 boys division. Ian scored 145 points and won the 50 back (34.34), 100 back (1:13.48) and 200 IM (2:36.28). He placed second in the 50 & 500 free, 50 & 100 breaststroke, and 50 fly.
Caren Guyett of Yorktown scored 145 points in the women open division and took home the second place High Point Award. Caren placed first in the 200 free (1:56.14), 1650 free (17:56.27 – meet record), and 200 IM (2:13.39); she finished second in the 100 & 500 free, 400 IM, 100 & 200 breaststroke, and 200 fly.
Emma Sawkins of Chappaqua scored 142 points and received the second place high point award in the 10-under girls. Emma won the 50 back (34.57) and 100 back (1:13.41), and placed second in the 50, 100 200 & 500 free, 100 breaststroke and 200 IM.
Daniel DiGiacomo of Chappaqua scored 141 points in the 10-under boys and took home the second place High Point Award. Daniel won the 100 free (1:05.87), 200 free (2:19.96)500 free (6:13.19) and 100 fly (1:16.29). He placed second in the 100 IM and third in the 200 IM.
Thirteen-year-old Charlie Carr of Brewster scored 141 points in the 13-14 boys division and took home the second place High Point Award. Charlie won the 200 back (2:11.13), 100 fly (1:02.35), 200 fly (2:17.80). He placed second in the 100 back and 400 IM and third in the 200 free and 200 IM.
Alex Rosen of Mt. Kisco scored 140 points and took home the second place High Point Award in the 11-12 boys age group. Alex won 100 free (57.37) and the 200 free (2:02.58). He finished second in the 50 free, 500 free, 100 breaststroke, and 100 IM. He placed third in the 100 back and 200 IM.
Tristan Hastings of Somers also scored 140 points but in the men Open Division. Hastings won the 400 IM (4:10.16) and 200 breaststroke (2:11.38). he finished second in the 50, 200 & 500 free and 200 IM, and third in the 100 free and 200 back.
John Carr, a resident of Brewster, scored 137 points in the 13-14 age group to win the third place High Point Award. Johnny won the 100 back (1:00.27). He placed second in the 100, 200 & 500 free, 200 back, and 200 IM; John placed third in the 400 IM.
Elizabeth Barry of Chappaqua and Micah Sims of Armonk both scored 135 points in their respective age group.
As an eleven-year-old
Elizabeth had the highest score for the Marlins in the 11-12 girls division and won the second place High Point Award. She won the 100 IM (1:08.31). She also placed second in the 100, 200 & 500 free, the 100 back and the 200 IM. She finished third in the 50 free.
Micah won the second place high point in the 13-14 girls division. She won the 100 back (1:00.74) and 200 back (2:10.76), placed second in the 100 free and 400 IM, and third in the 200 free.
Josh Tesser of Chappaqua scored 134 points and won the third place high point award in the 11-12 boys age group. Josh won the 50 free 926.74), 50 back (30.22) and 100 back (1:05.64). He finished third in the 50 fly.
Maddy Berkman of Briarcliff Manor scored 133 points in the 13-14 girls division and took home the third place high point award. Maddy won the 100 breaststroke (1:08.92), placed second in the 200 breaststroke, 100 & 200 fly and 200 IM, and third in the 50 free and 400 IM.
Fifteen-year-old Alexandra Gorki of Chappaqua scored 129 points in the women Open division and took home the third place high point award. Alex won the 100 breaststroke (1:08.70) and the 200 breaststroke (2:29.27).
Nine-year-old Kristina Barry of Chappaqua scored 121.50 points as she won the third place high point award in the 10-under division. Kristina finished second in the 100 fly, and third in the 500 free, 100 & 200 IM.
The following Marlins also won individual events: Olivia Lindenberg (11-12 girls 50 breaststroke – 36.28), Racquel Giner (13-14 girls 200 breaststroke – 2:31.10), Sammie Cooper (13-14 girls 200 fly – 2:12.00), Alex Smith (10-under boys 50 free – 29.76 –50 fly – 31.25 – and 100 IM – 1:14.79), Evan Olin (11-12 boys 50 fly – 29.89), Josh Saccurato (Men Open 1650 free – 17:38.80), Daniel Simco (Men Open 100 back - 55.15, 200 back – 1:55.19, and 100 breaststroke – 1:00.24), and Anthony Simco (Men Open 100 fly – 51.24 – meet record).
Nicole DiGiacomo, Margaux Weiner, Katherine Shine and Cate Sawkins teamed up to win the 8-under girls 100 free relay (1:13.22) and 100 medley relay (1:23.93).
Emma Sawkins, Sydney Marks, Simone Kelly and Genna McLaughlin placed first in the 10-under girls 200 free relay (2:02.04). Sawkins, McLaughlin, Marks and Raquel Wasserman finished first in the 200 medley relay (2:19.84).
Emma Grace Housman, Olivia Lindenberg, Katie Duncalf and Elizabeth Barry teamed up to win the 11-12 girls 200 medley relay (2:09.58).
Sammie Cooper, Racquel Giner, Maddy Berkman and Ali Polhill won the 13-14 girls 200 free relay in 1:46.56. Polhill, Giner, Danielle Sims and Caroline Weston won the 200 medley relay in 1:57.53.
Betsy Weston, Steffi Niessl, Kim Holden and Caren Guyett teamed up to win the women Open 200 free relay (1:44.05). Holden, Alexandra Gorki, Niessl and Guyett won the 200 medley relay (1:53.070).
Daniel DiGiacomo, Alex Smith, Robby Purvis and Ian Cooper finished first in the 10-under boys 200 free relay (2:06.27). Cooper, Ian Kleinsmith, Smith and DiGiacomo finished first in the 200 medley relay (2:24.84).
Will Rappaport, Josh Tesser, Alex Rosen and Risten Clarke won the 11-12 boys 200 free relay (1:52.49). Tesser, Ruan Zorgman, Rappaport and Rosen won the 200 medley relay (2:04.12).
Charlie Carr, John Carr, Taegan Clarke and Fumi Asaga finished in first place in the 13-14 boys 200 free relay (1:42.18). John Carr, Ian Schneider, Charlie Carr and Fumi Asaga placed first in the 200 medley relay (1:59.25).
Tristan Hastings, Daniel Simco, James Karle and Anthony Simco won the men Open 200 free relay (1:30.22). Daniel Simco, Drew Polhill, Anthony Simco, and Hastings set a new meet record and placed first in the 200 medley relay (1:38.88).

Six Marlins Compete at Eastern Zone

Six swimmers of the Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins Swim Team qualified to compete at the 2007 Eastern Zone Short Course All Star Swimming Championships. The top two swimmers in each event, from each LSC of the Eastern Zone, were chosen to compete at this elite three-day meet held at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center at Erie Community College in Buffalo, New York.
The Metropolitan Zone Team finished in 5th place overall with 758 points. The Middle Atlantic Zone Team won the competition.
The Metropolitan women team placed second (449 points) while the men team finished fifth with 309 points.
Maddy Berkman of Briarcliff Manor swam to a third place finish in the 13-14 girls 100 yd breaststroke with a Speedo Series and personal best time of 1:08.13. She finished 5th in the 100 butterfly (1:00.49). She was a member of the metropolitan Zone Team 200 free relay (6th), 200 medley relay (7th) and the 3rd place 400 medley relay.
Emma Sawkins of Chappaqua finished in sixth place in the 10-under girls 500 freestyle with a personal best time of 5:59.42.
Genna McLaughlin of Yorktown placed 7th In the 10-under girls 100 free with a personal best time of 1:01.71 and 7th in the 500 free (6:00.59). Genna was a member of the Metropolitan Zone Team 10-under girls 200 and 400 free relays which finished in fourth place.
Caroline Weston of Katonah swam to a 7th place finish in the 13-14 girls 200 breaststroke (2:32.31).
Kazu Asaga of Chappaqua swam to a 6th place finish in the 15-18 boys 100 backstroke (55.46). Kazu led off the Metropolitan Team 15-18 200 medley relay which finished fourth and the 400 medley relay which finished in 5th place.
Nick Charriez of Mohegan Lake finished in 6th place in the 15-18 boys 200 back (2:00.03).

USA Swimming Spring Championships

Five swimmers of the Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins participated in the 2007 USA Swimming Spring Championships. The five-day
National Championship was held Long Course at the end of March at the Nassau County Aquatic Center, at Eisenhower Park, East Meadow, New York.
Anthony Simco of Pound Ridge dropped 0.83 seconds while swimming the 100 meter butterfly. His time of 57.60L was a new Marlins Team Record and personal best time. While swimming the 100 fly, Simco also set a new team record in the 50 fly (26.65L).
Pound Ridge resident Adam Powell swam the 50 freestyle in a personal best and Team Record time of 24.27L.
Steffi Niessl of Brewster swam the 100 fly (1:04.71) and the 100 backstroke in a personal best time of 1:07.23L.
Caren Guyett of Yorktown competed in the 800 free and swam a personal best time in the 100 fly (1:07.04L).
Fifteen-year-old Kim Holden, of Mount Kisco, swam the 100 back and the 100 fly.
Niessl, Guyett, Betsy Weston (of Katonah) and Ali Polhill (Brewster) competed in the women 400 free relay, setting a new long course team record (4:09.00).

Marlins Participate In Age Group North

The Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins Swim Team participated in the Metropolitan Age Group North Swimming Championships. This three-day meet was held at four different sites this weekend. The Marlins competed in the North Division at the Valley Central Natatorium. The meet was hosted by the Viking Aquatic Club.

Marlins Compete at NCSA Junior Nationals 

The Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins sent 11 of their elite swimmers to the 2007 NCSA Junior National Short Course Swimming Championships.
More than 250 teams from all over the US participated in the five-day competition that was held at the YMCA Aquatic Center in Orlando, Florida.
The Marlins finished in 16th place overall with a score of 3,544 points. The Marlins Men scored 2,027 points and finished in thirteenth place.
The team of Daniel Simco (Pound Ridge), Tristan Hastings (Somers), Anthony Simco (Pound Ridge) and Adam Powell (Pound Ridge) won the Men 200 yd Medley Relay in a Metropolitan and Marlins Team Record of 1:33.64. This time also qualifies the quartet for National Age Group Top 16 Consideration.
Adam Powell took the bronze in the Men 50 freestyle, qualifying for the USA Swimming Spring Championship and Junior Nationals with a time of 20.73. He finished 18th in the 100 free with a USA Swimming Junior Nationals qualifying time of 46.08 (team record).
Anthony Simco placed seventh in the 100 butterfly with a USA Swimming Spring Championship and Junior National time of 49.93. He finished ninth in the 50 fly (22.35 – team record).
Daniel Simco finished in eighth place in the Men’s 50 backstroke with a Team Record time of 23.86. He placed eleventh in the 50 fly (22.96) and fifteenth in the 100 back (51.73).
Hastings, D. Simco, A. Simco and Powell qualified for NAG Top 16 and finished in sixth place in the men 200 free relay (1:25.00 – Team and Metropolitan Records).
D. Simco, Hastings, A. Simco and Powell finished in ninth place in the men 400 medley relay (3:27.25 – Spring Championship & Junior National qualifying time).

Steffi Niessl of Brewster finished in 18th place in the women 200 back (2:03.23) and 18th in the women 100 fly (56.15 – Spring Championship and Junior Nationals). She placed 21st in the 100 back (57.79) and 24th in the 50 fly (26.32).
Kim Holden (Mount Kisco), Alexandra Gorki (Chappaqua), Niessl and Caren Guyett (Yorktown) finished in 17th place in the women 200 medley Relay (1:48.08 – NAG Top 16) and in 20th place in the 400 Medley Relay (3:55.17 – Spring Championship and Junior Nationals).
Betsy Weston (Katonah), Niessl, Ali Polhill (Brewster) and Guyett teamed up to swim the women 200 free relay (1:40.80). Niessl, Polhill, Weston and Guyett also swam the women 400 free relay (3:39.66).
The following swimmers also swam in individual events: Guyett 100 & 200 fly, 50 & 200 free, 100 back, 200 & 400 IM); Hastings (100 back, 200 breast an 200 IM); and Polhill (50 free, and 50 & 100 fly).

Marlins Swim at Junior Olympics

The Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins braved the biggest snow storm of the season to participate in the 2007 Short Course Junior Olympics. The three-day trials and finals meet, hosted by Three Village Swim Club and Team Suffolk, was held at the Nassau County Aquatic Center at Eisenhower Park, East Meadow, New York.
As a team, the Marlins finished third in the combined 10-under events with a score of 661.50 points and fifth in the combined 13-14 events with 451 points. In the overall scores, the Marlins finished in sixth place in the Boys Division (823.50), in the Girls Division (882) and in the Combined Overall Team Scores (1,705.50).
Genna McLaughlin of Yorktown scored 138 individual points to tie for second place in the 10-under girls High Point Award. Genna won the 200 yd freestyle (2:13.55) and the 500 free (5:58.99). She placed second in the 50 and 100 free, and third in the 100 individual medley.
The team of McLaughlin, Emma Sawkins, Sydney Marks and Raquel Wasserman won the 10-under girls 200 free relay (1:58.89). McLaughlin, Marks, Kristina Barry and Sawkins teamed up to win the 400 free relay (4:25.31).
The 13-14 girls swept all relays in their division. Ali Polhill,
Melissa Trail, Micah Sims and Racquel Giner won the 200 free relay (1:43.70). M. Sims, Trail, Danielle Sims and Sammie Cooper finished first in the 400 free relay (3:47.23). Giner, Caroline Weston, Polhill and Trail teamed up to win the 200 medley relay (1:54.15). Giner, Maddy Berkman, Cooper and Polhill won the 400 medley relay (4:12.84).

Marlins Compete at Harvard
 
A group of nineteen swimmers of the Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins Swim Team traveled to Cambridge, Massachusetts to compete in the 2007 Speedo Champions Series Northeast.
More than eight hundred swimmers from 115 teams participated in the four-day meet that was held at
Harvard University in March. The top 24 qualifiers at preliminaries returned to compete in finals.
The Marlins scored 221 points to finish in eleventh place overall. Scoring 137 points, the Marlins men team finished in ninth place, first of all the Metro teams.
Adam Powell, a resident of Pound Ridge, won the men 50 yd freestyle with a time of 21.13.
Sixteen-year-old Steffi Niessl, of Brewster, made finals in three events. She placed eleventh in the women 200 backstroke (2:04.72), thirteenth in the 100 butterfly (57.19) and fifteenth in the 200 fly (2:08.22). She placed 24th in the 100 back (1:00.25)
Caren Guyett of Yorktown finished 17th in the women 200 free (1:53.47) and in the 200 fly (2:05.93).
Anthony Simco of Pound Ridge finished sixteenth in the men 50 free (22.08).
Tristan Hastings of Somers finished 13th in the men 200 individual medley (1:56.68) and in 19th place in the men 100 free (48.16)
Kim Holden of Mt. Kisco placed 23rd in the women 100 back (59.32).
Drew Polhill of Brewster finished 22nd in the men 200 IM (1:58.38).
Casey Powers of Chappaqua swam the mile in 16:30.06 and finished 18th in the event.
Daniel Simco of Pound Ridge qualified 22nd but placed 18th at finals in the 100 men back (52.60).

Simco, Hastings, A. Simco and Powell finished fifth in the men 200 medley relay (1:35.73). Hastings, A. Simco, D. Simco and Karle finished in 8th place in the men 400 medley relay (3:34.19).
Holden, Alexandra Gorki, Niessl and Guyett joined forces to finish in sixth place in the women 400 medley relay (3:57.60) and eighth in the 200 medley relay (1:49.61). Betsy Weston, Niessl, Ali Polhill and Guyett finished in eighth place in the women 200 free relay in a team record time of 1:38.40.
Kazu Asaga, Maddy Berkman, Jared Blacker, Sammie Cooper, Racquel Giner, and Micah Sims also competed in this elite meet.

The Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins Swim Team and the Larchmont based-Badger Swim Club held a Duel in the Pool at the Lehman College APEX recently.
The Dual Meet was a last chance for all swimmers to qualify for the Metropolitan Swimming Junior Olympics.
Genna McLaughlin of Yorktown won six events in the 9-10 girls for the Marlins: the 50 yd backstroke (35.14), 100 back (1:13.60), 50 breaststroke (38.99), 1oo individual medley (1:13.36), 200 IM (2:39.99), and 200 free (2:17.05).
Elizabeth Barry of Chappaqua won five events in the 11-12 girls division. Elizabeth placed first in the 100 free (59.79), 100 breaststroke (1:19.37), 200 breaststroke (2:49.44), 100 butterfly (1:09.55), and 400 IM (5:08.41). She finished second in the 500 free.
Will Rappaport of Pound Ridge also won five events but in the 11-12 boys division: the 100 free (58.81), 50 breaststroke (32.89), 100 breaststroke (1:11.79), 200 breaststroke (2:38.02), and 200 fly (2:21.01). He placed second in the 200 IM.
Racquel Giner of Mount Kisco and Sammie Cooper were both double winners in the 13-14 girls age group. Giner won the 100 back (1:02.92) and 100 breaststroke (1:10.79), while Cooper finished first in the 100 fly (1:00.13) and 200 fly (2:14.85).
Aaron Saccurato of Chappaqua was a double winner in the 11-12 boys division, finishing first in the 100 back (1:14.84) and 100 fly (1:14.32).
Another double winner was Fumi Asaga of Chappaqua. Fumi placed first in the 13-14 boys 100 free (55.21) and 200 fly (2:47.39).
The following Marlins won one event each: Emma Sawkins (9-10 girls 100 breaststroke – 1:25.81); Sydney Marks (9-10 girls 50 fly – 33.26); Eileen Huang (11-12 girls 50 breaststroke – 37.99); Katie Duncalf (11-12 girls 50 fly – 31.71); Micah Sims (13-14 girls 500 free – 5:33.58); Ian Cooper (9-10 boys 50 breaststroke – 41.78); Alex Smith (9-10 boys 50 fly – 33.25); Charlie Carr (11-12 boys 50 back – 29.31); John Carr (13-14 boys 500 free – 5:32.42); Ian Schneider (13-14 boys 100 breaststroke – 1:17.82); Benjamin Gebauer (13-14 boys 400 IM – 5:10.73); and David Sorensen (15-18 boys 500 free – 5:35.06).
The team of Ian Cooper, Genna McLaughlin, Sydney Marks, and Alex Smith won the 9-10 Mixed 200 Medley Relay (2:15.99).

Marlins Make Waves at 8-Under Championships

The Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins Swim Team participated in the Annual Metropolitan 8-Under Championships. The two-day meet hosted by the Badger Swim Club was held at the Lehman College APEX, in The Bronx, NY.
Six-year-old Thomas O’Sullivan of Pound Ridge scored 111 points to win the First Place High Point Award in the 6-Under Boys Division. Thomas won the 50 yd freestyle (43.41), the 25 backstroke (22.42) and the 25 butterfly (25.82). He placed second in the 25 free, 50 back and 25 breaststroke.
Cate Sawkins of Chappaqua scored 114 points which was good enough to earn the second place High Point in the 7-Under Girls Division. Cate won the 7-year-old girls 25 back (18.72), 50 back (39.75 – Silvers), 50 free (35.81 – Silvers) and 100 free (1:19.71 – Silvers). She finished second in the 25 and 50 fly).
The team of Margaux Weiner, Amara Schiffman, Sawkins and Caitlin Lane finished first in the 7-Under 200 Medley Relay (3:25.91).
Mark McLaughlin of Yorktown scored 109 points in the 7-Under Boys Division. He received the second place High Point Trophy. Mark won the 7-Under boys 50 back (40.80 – Silvers), 50 breaststroke (46.24 – Silvers) and 50 fly (43.78 – Silvers). He finished in second place in the 100 individual medley and third place in the 25 back and 25 fly.
James Mahaney, Jei-Ming Ang, McLaughlin and O’Sullivan teamed up to win the 7-under boys 100 Medley Relay (1:29.80).
Ang, Jack Berkey, McLaughlin and O’Sullivan joined forces to finish first in the 7-under boys 200 Medley Relay (3:22.30).
Felipe Carvao of Chappaqua won the 8-under boys 50 breaststroke with a Junior Olympics qualifying time of 43.75. He also placed third in the 25 fly.
The following Little Marlins also finished among the Top 8 in individual events at the Championship: Margaux Weiner, Jei-Ming Ang, Jack Berkey and Scott Weston.

Marlins Swim at Senior Metropolitan Championships

The Marlins Swim Team, based at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester in Mount Kisco, participated in the 2007 Senior Metropolitan Short Course Swimming Championships.
More than 600 athletes from 45 teams competed at the four-day trials and finals meet that was held in late February at the Lehman College APEX in The Bronx. The top 24 qualifiers came back to swim at finals.
With 30 swimmers competing, the Marlins finished in eighth place overall with 531 points. The women’s team finished in eighth place (348 points) while the men’s team finished 10th with 183 points.
Adam Powell, of Pound Ridge, finished sixth in the men 50 yd freestyle (21.83).
Kim Holden, of Mt. Kisco, swam to an 11th place finish in the women 100 butterfly (59.06) and 100 backstroke (58.91). She also placed 13th in the 200 back (2:09.24).
Brewster’s Steffi Niessl finished in 10th place in the 100 fly (1:00.07), in 12th place in the 100 back (59.46) and 18th place in the 50 free (25.05).
Caren Guyett of Yorktown swam to an eleventh place in the 200 free (1:55.13), 15th place in the 1000 free (10:38.54) and 17th place in the 50 free (24.91).
Somers’ Tristan Hastings placed 21st in the 400 individual medley (4:24.74) and 20th in the 200 IM (2:01.58).
Ali Polhill of Brewster placed 16th in the 100 fly (1:00.05), 19th in the 50 free (25.18), and 23rd in the 200 IM (2:13.91).
Anthony Simco of Pound Ridge finished 18th in the 100 back (55.06) and 100 breaststroke (1:01.71) and 19th in the 50 free (22.46).
Kazu Asaga of Chappaqua placed 14th in the 200 back (1:58.41) and 18th in the 200 fly (2:01.99).
Alexandra Gorki, of Chappaqua, finished 17th in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.21) and 18th in the 200 breaststroke (2:29.78).
Maddy Berkman of Briarcliff Manor finished 18th in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.27) and 21st in the 100 fly (59.66).
Nick Charriez of Mohegan Lake finished 17th in the 200 back (1:59.67) and 23rd in the 100 back (56.30).
Chappaqua’s Braden Clarke placed 19th in the 100 back (55.80).
Sammie Cooper of Chappaqua finished in 22nd place in the 100 fly (59.84).
Caroline Weston of Katonah finished in 23rd place in the 200 breaststroke (2:33.61).
Holden, Gorki, Niessl and Guyett finished third in the 400 medley relay (3:58.12). Micah Sims, Berkman, Cooper and Polhill placed seventh in the same event (4:03.18). Niessl, Polhill, Betsy Weston and Guyett finished in 6th place in the 400 free relay (3:38.15).
Daniel Simco, Hastings, A. Simco and Powell took seventh in the 400 medley relay (3:35.59).

Marlins Take the Badger IMX Challenge

The Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins Swim Team participated in the Badger IMX Challenge Meet that was held this past February 17 and 18 at the Lehman College APEX in the Bronx.
Cate Sawkins, of Chappaqua, was a triple winner in the 7-under girls division. Cate won the 25 yd backstroke (19.08), the 25 breaststroke (23.95) and the 25 butterfly (17.73).
Mark McLaughlin, of Yorktown, was also a triple winner for the Marlins. Mark won the 7-under boys 25 back (18.84), 25 breaststroke (21.50) and 25 fly (19.48).
Kazu Asaga of Chappaqua won three events in the 15-18 boys division. Kazu placed first in the 200 back (2:01.82), 200 fly (2:08.85) and 200 individual medley (2:06.54). He placed second in the 500 free and 200 breaststroke.
Caroline Weston of Katonah finished first in the 13-14 girls 200 breaststroke (2:38.17).

Marlins Swim at Condors Last Chance Meet 

The Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins participated in the Condors Last Chance Meet. The three-day meet was held recently at the Felix Festa Natatorium in West Nyack, New York. The Condors Swim Club hosted the meet.
Melissa Trail, of Pound Ridge, won three events in the 13-14 girls age group. She finished first in the 50 yd freestyle (26.04), 100 free (56.42), and 100 butterfly (1:01.09). She also finished second in the 200 free.
Matthew Karle, of Mount Kisco, was a double winner in the 13-14 boys age group, with first places in the 200 backstroke (2:16.54) and 100 fly (1:00.81).
Emma Sawkins (10-Under girls 500 free – 6:05.67), Elizabeth Barry (11-12 girls 200 free – 2:07.33), Daniel DiGiacomo (10-Under boys 500 free – 6:21.19), Will Rappaport (11-12 boys 200 free – 2:03.07) and Fumi Asaga (13-14 boys 100 free – 54.99), all won an individual event.
The following Marlins also finished in the Top 3: Genna McLaughlin, Kristina Barry, Emma Woeckener, Ian Cooper, Alex Rosen, Matthew Hadley and Braden Clarke.

Marlins Swim at Badger’s New Year Meet

The Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins Swim Team participated in the Badger New Year Meet. The one-day meet was held at the Lehman College APEX in the Bronx.
Cate Sawkins, of Chappaqua, was a triple winner for the Marlins. Cate won the 7-under girls 25 yd freestyle (16.27), 25 backstroke (19.40) and 25 butterfly (17.78). She placed third in the 25 breaststroke.
Emma Hadley of Mount Kisco won two events: the 8-under girls 25 fly (18.81) and 100 individual medley (1:32.99). She placed second in the 25 breaststroke and third in the 50 free.
Isabella Weiner of Chappaqua won the 8-under girls 25 breaststroke (22.11), second in the 25 back and 100 IM, and third in the 25 fly.
Erin Boddie of Mount Kisco won the 8-under girls 50 free (36.99), placed second in the 25 fly, and third in the 100 IM.
Boddie, Madison Thantu, Sawkins and Kasey Guglielmo teamed up to win the 8-under girls 100 medley relay (1:25.47).
Genna McLaughlin of Yorkton finished first in the 9-10 girls 100 free (1:04.19). She placed third in the 50 back and 100 IM.
Danielle Sims of Armonk, was also a triple winner, with first places in the 11-12 girls 100 back (1:03.18), 100 fly (1:02.50) and 200 IM (2:19.19).
Eleven-year-old Elizabeth Barry of Chappaqua won the 11-12 girls 100 free (1:00.51).
Chappaqua’s Alexandra Rota placed first in the 11-12 girls 50 breaststroke (36.17).
Swimming in the women open division, Steffi Niessl of Brewster won the 200 back (2:09.67); Alexandra Gorki of Chappaqua won the 100 breaststroke (1:09.60); and Caren Guyett of Yorktown won the 400 IM (4:49.52).
Thomas O’Sullivan of Pound Ridge won the 6-under boys 25 back (24.70) and placed second in the 25 free.
Mark McLaughlin of Yorktown finished first in the 7-under boys 25 breaststroke (22.66), second in the 25 fly and 25 back, and third in the 25 free.
Robert Silipigni of Chappaqua won the 7-under boys 25 fly (20.47), and second in the 25 free.
Felipe Carvao of Chappaqua won the 8-under boys 25 breaststroke (21.43) and the 25 fly (19.23). He finished second in the 25 back and 100 IM.
Ian Cooper of Chappaqua won the 9-10 boys 100 fly (1:16.77) and finished in second place in the 50 back and 100 IM.
Charlie Carr of Brewster placed first in the 11-12 boys 100 back (1:01.06) and 200 IM (2:17.31). He finished third in the 100 fly.
Swimming in the men open division, Adam Powell of Pound Ridge won the 100 free (47.88); Anthony Simco won the 100 breaststroke (1:01.12) and finished second in the 200 fly; and Casey Powers won the 400 IM (4:22.02) and placed third in the 200 fly.

Marlins Swim at Badger’s Distance Meet 

The Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins started off the New Year by attending the Badger Distance Meet that was held at the Lehman College APEX in the Bronx.
Genna McLaughlin, of Yorktown, won the 10-under girls 200 yd freestyle (2:22.51) and placed second in the 200 individual medley.
Elizabeth Barry of Chappaqua swam to a first place finish in the 11-12 girls 500 free (5:54.33).
Danielle Sims of Armonk finished first in the 11-12 girls 400 IM (4:57.84) and eighth in the Open 1000 free.
Will Rappaport of Pound Ridge won the 11-12 boys 500 free (5:33.62).

Marlins Win Holiday Classic XX

   Led by its 11-12 and 13-14 swimmers, the Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins Swim Team won the Holiday Classic XX Invitational.
   Ninety Marlins traveled to New Jersey to compete in the three-day Invitational that was hosted by Eastern Express and held at the Sonny Werblin Recreation Center of Rutgers University Bush Campus in Piscataway.
   All told, 1,396 swimmers from 45 teams participated in this year’s championships. The Marlins finished in first place with a Combined Team Score of 2,549 points. The Peddie Aquatic Association finished in second place with 2,143.50 points, followed by the Scarlet Aquatic Club (1,547.50 points). The Marlins Women placed first with 1,411 points as did the Marlins Men with 1,138 points.
   The Marlins set 8 individual and 3 relay team records. Four swimmers and 2 relays qualified for the USA-Swimming Spring Nationals. The Marlins qualified seven swimmers in 19 events and three relays for NCSA Junior Nationals. Eleven Marlins qualified in 47 individual events and 9 relays for the Speedo Champions Series, and one Marlin qualified for National Age Group Top 16 consideration.
   Danielle Sims, of Armonk, scored 157 points in the 11-12 girls age group. She finished first in four events: the 50 yard backstroke (30.32), the 100 back (1:04.05), the 50 butterfly (28.58) and the 100 fly (1:04.14). She placed second in the 200 back, 200 fly and 200 individual medley.
   Kim Holden, of Mount Kisco, scored 114 points in the 13-14 girls age group. Kim qualified for Spring Nationals in one event, for NCSA Juniors in three events and for NAG Top 16 consideration in one event. She finished first in the 100 back (57.06 – Nationals – NCSA Juniors – NAG Top 16), in the 200 back (2:05.44 – NCSA Juniors), and in the 100 fly (58.04 – NCSA Juniors). All three also qualified for the Speedo Series. Kim placed third in the 200 IM.
   Ali Polhill, of Brewster, scored 133 points for the Marlins. Ali set two team records in the 13-14 girls, qualified for Juniors in two events and finished first in three events: the 50 freestyle (24.55 – team record - NCSA Juniors), 100 free (54.05) and 200 fly (2:11.43 – team record). All three events also qualified for the Speedo Series. She placed second in the 200 free and in the 100 fly (58.33 – NCSA Juniors). Ali placed third in the 400 IM.
   Chappaqua residents Sammie Cooper finished second in the 13-14 girls 200 fly and third in the 100 fly while Alexandra Gorki placed third in the 13-14 girls 200 breaststroke with a Speedo Series time of 2:27.94).
   The team of Micah Sims (Armonk), Racquel Giner (Mt. Kisco), Maddy Berkman (Briarcliff Manor) and Polhill won the 13-14 girls 400 Medley Relay with a team record time of 4:02.80. Sims, Cooper, Gorki and Holden teamed up to place third in the 400 free relay. Both relays qualified for the Speedo Champions Series. Gorki, Sims, Holden and Cooper set a new 13-14 girls team record in the 800 free relay (8:08.77).
   Steffi Niessl, a resident of Brewster, qualified for Spring Nationals with a first place finish in the Women Open 100 fly (56.09 – team record). This time also qualifies for NCSA Juniors and Speedo Series. In addition, Steffi qualified for NCSA Juniors in the 50 free (24.21 – team record - Speedo), 100 back (57.47 - Speedo) and 200 back (2:04.83 - Speedo).
   Caren Guyett of Yorktown qualified for NCSA Juniors in five events: the 200 free (1:53.19), 500 free (5:02.14), 1000 free (10:17.54), 1650 free (17:13.40) and 100 fly (57.94). All five events qualify also for the Speedo Series, as well as the following events: 100 free (53.59), 200 fly (2:08.56), 200 IM (2:10.16) and 400 IM (4:34.63).
   Holden, Gorki, Niessl and Guyett teamed up to take the silver in the women 400 medley relay with a Spring National, NCSA Juniors and Speedo Series time of 3:55.45. Betsy Weston (Katonah), Niessl, Polhill and Guyett placed third in the 400 free relay with a team record time of 3:35.65. This time qualified the relay for Spring Nationals, NCSA Juniors and Speedo Series.
   Adam Powell of Pound Ridge broke his own team record in the Men’s Open 50 free with a Spring National, NCSA Juniors and Speedo Series time of 20.80. Adam became the first Marlin to swim the event under 21 seconds! He also qualified for NCSA Junior and Speedo Series while setting a new team record in the 100 back (52.19).
   Anthony Simco of Pound Ridge also broke his own team record in the 100 fly, becoming the first Marlin to swim the event in less than 50 seconds. Hi time of 49.63 qualifies for Spring Nationals, NCSA Juniors and Speedo Series. Anthony added the 100 breaststroke (59.93), the 200 fly (2:00.78) and the 200 IM (1:56.44) as qualifying events for the Speedo Series.
   Daniel Simco qualified for NCSA Juniors and Speedo Series in the 100 back (52.63) and 100 fly (51.49). He also qualified for the Speedo Series in the 100 free (48.61), 100 breaststroke (59.56) and the 200 IM (1:59.42).
   The following swimmers also qualified for the Speedo Series which will be held in March at the Harvard University Natatorium: Tristan Hastings of Somers in the 100 free (48.74), 200 free (1:45.29), 500 free (4:43.80), 100 breaststroke (1:01.33), 200 breaststroke (2:12.09) and 400 IM (4:13.47); Casey Powers of Chappaqua in the 200 free (1:46.48), 500 free (4:43.24), 1000 free (9:44.90), 1650 free (16:24.83), 200 fly (2:00.45), 200 IM (1:58.27) and 400 IM (4:13.83); Drew Polhill of Brewster in the 100 breaststroke (1:2.01), 200 breaststroke (2:13.23) and 200 IM (1:57.54).
   D. Simco, Hastings, A. Simco and James Karle (
Mt. Kisco) teamed up to qualify for NCSA Juniors and Speedo Series in the 400 medley relay (3:32.56). The following relays also qualified for the Speedo Series: the 400 free relay of D. Simco, A. Simco, Karle and Hastings (3:14.47); the 800 free relay of Hastings, D. Simco, Karle and Powers (7:07.63); and the 400 medley relay of Kazu Asaga (Chappaqua), Polhill, Jared Blacker (Mt. Kisco) and Powers.
   Charlie Carr of Brewster scored 142 points for the Marlins. Charlie finished first in the 11-12 boys 100 back (1:02.18) and 200 back (2:12.33). He placed second in the 50 back, and third in the 50 and 200 fly. Teammate Will Rappaport of Pound Ridge placed third in the 50 breaststroke.
   Carr, Rappaport, Josh Tesser (Chappaqua) and Risten Clarke (Chappaqua) took the gold in the 11-12 boys 200 free relay (1:46.78). Carr, Ruan Zorgman (Pleasantville), Rappaport and Tesser won the 200 medley relay (2:00.39).
   Daniel DiGiacomo of Chappaqua won the 10-under boys 200 free (2:22.49). Teammate Ian Cooper of Chappaqua placed third in the 10-under boys 100 fly. Cooper, Liam Hackett (Katonah), DiGiacomo and Alex Smith (Chappaqua) took the bronze in the 10-under boys 200 medley relay.
   Other Marlins finishing among the Top Eight finalists at the Holiday Classic were Genna McLaughlin, Emma Sawkins and Kristina Barry (in the 10-under girls); Elizabeth Barry in the 11-12 girls; Micah Sims, Racquel Giner, Maddy Berkman and Caroline Weston in the 13-14 girls; Ruan Zorgman in the 11-12 boys; and Matthew Karle and Connor White in the 13-14 boys.

GAEL December Meet

The little Marlins of the Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Swim Team, participated in the GAEL Aquatic Club 8-under Holiday Meet. The one-day competition was held at the pool of IONA College in New Rochelle, New York.
Cate Sawkins of Chappaqua won the 7-under girls 25 breaststroke (23.92) and 100 individual medley (1:31.99). She placed second in the 25 freestyle and 25 butterfly.
Mark McLaughlin of Yorktown was also a double winner for the Marlins. Mark took the 7-under boys 25 breaststroke (21.50) and 25 fly (20.04). He finished 3rd in the 100 IM and fourth in the 25 free.
The following Marlins finished in the Top Six: Susannah Ruotolo, Margaux Weiner, Emma Hadley, Erin Boddie, Isabella Weiner, Robert Silipigni, Scott Weston, Ben Fortier, Jackson Corrigan, Felipe Carvao and

Marlins Make Wave at Holiday Meet

The Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins Swim Team held it’s annual Holiday Meet recently. Six teams participated in the two-day competition that was held at the Trotta Millennium Pool.
Raquel Wasserman, of Pound Ridge, was a triple winner in the 9-10 girls division. She placed first in the 50 yd freestyle (33.37), 100 backstroke (1:27.96) and 100 butterfly (1:28.53). Raquel placed second in the 50 fly, and third in the 100 & 200 individual medley.
Emily Parish of Chappaqua was also a triple winner in the 9-10 girls age group, with first places in the 100 breaststroke (1:30.16), 100 IM (1:26.24) and 200 IM (3:00.23). Emily took a second place in the 100 back.
Emma Sawkins of Chappaqua and Rosie Reilly of Pleasantville won one event each in the 9-10 girls division: Emma placed first in the 50 back (36.15) and Rosie took first place in the 50 breaststroke (44.71).
Carolyn Silipigni, Katherine Karle, Corie Levine, Jei-Si Ang, Corbet Campbell and Mary Fitzsimmons finished in the top three in the 9-10 girls division.
Wasserman, Levine, Amy Washington and Julia Fortier teamed up to win the 9-10 girls 200 free relay (2:19.66). Fitzsimmons, Parish, Wasserman and Washington won the 200 medley relay (2:33.31).
Eileen Huang of Chappaqua won four events in the 11-12 girls division: the 100 free (1:04.83), 100 back (1:16.44), 50 breaststroke (38.86) and 100 IM (1:13.93). Eileen placed second in the 50 free, and third in the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM.
Wendy Woeckener of Pleasantville won the 11-12 girls 50 free (29.49), placed second in the 50 fly and 100 IM, and third in the 100 free.
Brittany Chiang of Cortlandt Manor won the gold in the 11-12 girls 100 fly (1:20.44) and the bronze in the 100 back.
Martha Slivka, Hannah Slivka and Mary Kate McGetrick finished in the top three in the 11-12 girls division.
Woeckener, M. Slivka, H. Slivka, and Huang joined forces to win the 11-12 girls 200 free relay (2:03.02). Huang, M. Slivka, Woeckener and Rebecca Schneider teamed up to win the 200 medley relay (2:23.81).
Three Marlins won two events apiece in the 13-14 girls age group. Meghan Brooks of Somers placed first in the 100 free (1:00.40) and in the 100 fly (1:09.30). She placed second in the 200 fly and 200 IM.
Katie Underwood of Briarcliff Manor won the 100 back (1:07.01) and 200 back (2:26.31).
Emma Woeckener of Pleasantville finished first in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.23) and 200 IM (2:32.17). She placed second in the 200 free and 200 breaststroke and third in the 50 & 100 free and 200 back.
Briggs Sgaglio of Pound Ridge won the 200 fly (2:39.23).
Lizzy Balter, Roxy Rappaport, Melissa Whelan, Chase Wilt, Maria Trujillo and Hannah Marks also finished among the top three in the 13-14 girls division.
Balter, Sgaglio, Lauren DiChiara and Brooks won the 200 free relay (1:53.42) while Underwood, Woeckener, Brooks and Balter placed first in the 200 medley relay (2:05.19).
Jessica Mann, Danielle Sims, Melissa Fanelli, Molly Simon, Kerri Whelan, and Alyssa Cecchetelli finished in the top three in the Girls Open division.
Michael Lyons of Pleasantville won the 9-10 boys 100 breaststroke (1:39.04) and finished third in the 100 IM.
Edward D’Amore of Yorktown finished in first place in the 9-10 boys 50 fly (41.91),  in second place in the 100 fly (1:34.14), and in third place in the 200 IM.
Marcel Legros, Luke Salvatore, JP Carvao, and Peter Yergeau finished among the top three in the 9-10 boys division.
Danny Evans, D’Amore, Robby Purvis and Lyons won the 9-10 boys 200 free relay (2:26.11). Austin Scher, Salvatore, D’Amore and Legros finished first in the 200 medley relay (2:42.57).
Sam Johnson, of Katonah, was a triple winner in the 11-12 boys division with first places in the 50 free (29.51), 100 free (1:04.67) and 100 IM (1:14.56). He placed second in the 50 breaststroke, and third in the 100 back and 100 breaststroke.
Brent Lobien, of Chappaqua, won the 11-12 boys 100 fly (1:14.45).
Ian Kleinsmith, Aaron Saccurato and Daniel Fulop also finished among the top three in the 11-12 boys age group.
Kleinsmith, Saccurato, Michael Baudinet and Lobien teamed up to win the 200 free relay (2:04.58) while Baudinet, Johnson, Saccurato and Kleinsmith finished first in the 200 medley relay (2:18.60).
With a first place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:44.27), Ian Schneider was the lone winner for the Marlins in the 13-14 boys division. He placed second in the 100 & 200 free, 100 breaststroke, 100 fly, and 200 IM.
Benjamin Gebauer, Taegan Clarke, Dakota Gordon, and Fumi Asaga were among the top three finishers in the 13-14 boys division.
Gebauer, Schneider, Clarke and Asaga joined forces to win the 200 free relay (1:47.53). Schneider, Gebauer, Gordon and Asaga won the 200 medley relay (2:04.92).
Garek Berard and David Sorensen had second and third places in the Boys Open division.

Marlins Age Group Meet 

Four area teams attended the Marlins Swim Team one-day Age Group Meet at the Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Trotta Millennium Pool in November.
Genna McLaughlin, of Mount Kisco, won four events in the 9-10 girls age group: the 100 yd freestyle (1:05.80), 50 backstroke (35.78), 100 breaststroke (1:25.70) and 100 individual medley (1:17.12).
Danielle Sims, of Armonk, was a quadruple winner in the 11-12 girls division: 50 free (27.95), 200 back (2:17.80), 200 butterfly (2:29.83), and 100 IM (1:08.37).
Matthew Hadley, of Mount Kisco, was a quadruple winner in the 13-14 boys division, placing first in the 50 free (24.82), 200 back (2:11.23), 100 fly (1:02.34) and 200 IM (2:17.64).
Caroline Weston, of Katonah, was a triple winner in the girls 13-14 division. She finished first in the 50 free (27.60), 200 breaststroke (2:38.78) and 200 IM (2:26.18). She placed second in the 100 fly.
Betsy Weston, of Chappaqua, won three events in the Girls Open division: the 200 back (2:19.78), 100 fly (1:04.67) and 200 IM (2:22.57). She finished second in the 50 free (26.13).
Charlie Carr, of Brewster, won three events in the 11-12 boys division: the 50 free (26.32), 200 back (2:14.20) and the 100 IM (1:07.20). Charlie was second in the 200 breaststroke.
Ian Cooper, of Chappaqua, was a double winner in the 9-10 boys division. Ian took the 200 breaststroke (1:32.53) and the 100 IM (1:18.07). He finished second in the 100 free and 50 fly.
Aaron Saccurato, of Chappaqua, was also a double winner in the 9-10 boys age group. Aaron won the 100 free (1:06.94) and the 50 fly (33.95).
Will Rappaport, of Pound Ridge, was a double winner in the 11-12 boys division: 200 breaststroke (2:45.99) and 200 fly (2:25.81). He also placed third in the 50 free and 100 IM.
Anthony Simco, of Pound Ridge, won two events in the boys Open division: the 200 breaststroke (2:22.16) and 100 fly (53.66 – pool record).
Elizabeth Barry, of Chappaqua, won the 11-12 girls 200 breaststroke (2:54.74). She placed second in the 50 free and 100 IM, and third in the 200 fly.
Connor White, of Pound Ridge, won the 13-14 boys 200 breaststroke (2:38.11). He placed second in the 100 fly and 200 IM, and third in the 50 free.
Alex Smith, of Chappaqua, won the 9-10 boys 50 back (37.36) and placed second in the 100 IM.
Casey Powers, of Chappaqua, won the Boys Open 200 IM (2:05.24). He placed second in the 200 breaststroke.
Kazu Asaga, also from Chappaqua, won the boys Open 200 back (2:02.87) and finished second in the 50 free,
Adam Powell, of Pound Ridge, won the boys Open 50 free (22.55) and placed third in the 100 fly.
Kristina Barry, of Chappaqua, won the 9-10 girls 50 fly (36.19).
Hannah Marks, of Chappaqua, won the 13-14 girls 200 back (2:26.46).
Danielle Gallo, of Yorktown, won the Girls Open 200 breaststroke (2:39.19).

Marlins November 8 and Under Meet

The Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins held their second 8 and Under meet of the season in Mid-November at the Trotta  Millennium Pool. Four teams participated in this friendly afternoon competition.
Cate Sawkins, of Chappaqua, was a quadruple winner for the Marlins. Cate won the 7-Under girls 25 yd freestyle (16.91 – pool record), 50 free (37.69 – pool record), 50 backstroke (41.92 – pool record), 25 butterfly (17.76 – pool record).
Emma Hadley, of Mount Kisco, was a double winner with first places in the 8-Under girls 50 back (43.63) and 50 fly (47.25). She placed second in the 50 breaststroke and third in the 100 individual medley.
Nicole DiGiacomo, of Chappaqua, won the 8-under girls 100 free (1:26.80) and finished second in the 50 back.
Isabella Weiner, of Chappaqua, finished first in the 8-under girls 50 breaststroke (49.69) and second in the 50 fly.
Sawkins, Erin Boddie, Hadley and DiGiacomo teamed up to win the 8-under girls 100 free relay (1:09.51). Weiner, Boddie, Hadley and Sawkins joined forces to win the 100 medley relay (1:25.31).
Mark McLaughlin, of Mount Kisco, was a triple winner in the 7-under boys division. Mark took the gold in the 50 back (44.44 – pool record), 25 breaststroke (23.24 – pool record) and 25 fly (21.47 – pool record). He finished second in the 50 free.
Felipe Carvao, of Chappaqua, won the 8-under boys 50 breaststroke with a time of 47.91. He placed second in the 100 IM.

Middies 8-Under Sprints Invitational

The 8-Under swimmers of the Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins Swim competed at the Middies November 8-Under Sprints Invitational. The one-day meet was held at the White Plains YWCA.
Felipe Carvao of Chappaqua was a triple winner in the 8-under boys division. He won the 50 yd breaststroke (48.22), 50 butterfly (48.39) and 100 individual medley (1:35.45). He placed second in the 100 freestyle.
Cate Sawkins, also of Chappaqua, was a double winner in the 7-under girls division, placing first in the 50 free (37.08) and 50 fly (40.41).
The following Marlins were among the Top Six finishers: Susannah Ruotolo, Erin Boddie, Emma Hadley, Mark McLaughlin, Jackson Corrigan, Scott Weston, Jack Berkey, Shane Reichert, Jei-Ming Ang, Robert Silipigni, Kevin Posner, and Trevor Trail.

New York City Open Invitational

A select group of Marlins Senior swimmers competed at the Annual New York City Open Invitational. More than 280 swimmers from 18 teams participated in the two-day meet that was held at the Asphalt Green AquaCenter in Manhattan.
The morning preliminary heats were held in a 50-meter long course pool. The afternoon finals for the fastest 20 swimmers were held in a 25-yard short course pool. The Super Final heat was made of the 2 fastest qualifiers. The next 4 fastest qualifiers were in the Final Heat; the next six swimmers swam in the Consolation Heat and the last 8 swimmers in the Bonus Consolation Heat.
Adam Powell of Pound Ridge swam in the Final Heat for the men 50 freestyle. Adam qualified fourth in the 50 meter free with a Sectional time of 24.40L and finished third in the 50 yd free with a time of 21.91. Adam also finished in seventh place in the 100 free (48.11 – Sectionals).
Steffi Niessl of Brewster swam in the Final Heat of the women 100 butterfly. She qualified fourth in the morning long course prelims with a Sectionals time of 1:06.41L. She finished fourth at Finals with a NCSA Junior Nationals time of 57.65. Steffi also finished eighth in the 200 backstroke with a Sectionals time of 2:08.43.

New York Sharks Invitational

The Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins Swim Team traveled to Rockland County to participate in the New York Sharks November Swimming Invitational. The three-day meet was held at the Felix Festa Natatorium in West Nyack, New York.
Matthew Hadley, of Chappaqua, won five events in the 13-14 boys division: the 200 yd freestyle (1:57.34), 100 backstroke (58.99), 200 back (2:12.85), 100 butterfly (1:00.64), and 200 individual medley (2:11.25). He finished second in the 500 free and 100 breaststroke.
Danielle Sims of Armonk was a quadruple winner in the 11-12 girls age group. Sims won the 100 back (1:05.34), 50 fly (28.87), 100 fly (1:04.01), and 100 IM (1:07.55). She finished second in the 100 free.
Genna McLaughlin of Yorktown was a double winner in the 9-10 girls division. She placed first in the 100 free (1:05.34) and in the 100 IM (1:15.15). She took second places in the 200 free, the 100 breaststroke, the 50 & 100 fly and the 200 IM; and third in the 50 back.
Melissa Trail of Pound Ridge was also a double winner but in the 13-14 girls division. Melissa won the 100 fly (1:03.94) and 200 IM (2:19.94). She finished third in the 100 back.
Matthew Karle of Mount Kisco was a double winner in the 13-14 bys age group, placing first in the 100 (1:06.06) and 200 (2:28.05) breaststroke events. He finished third in the 200 IM.
Elizabeth Barry of Chappaqua won the 11-12 girls 200 IM (2:30.14) and placed second in the 200 free and 50 back.
Alexandra Rota of Chappaqua finished first in the 11-12 girls 50 breaststroke (37.13) and third in the 200 IM.
Caroline Weston of Katonah won the 13-14 girls 100 breaststroke (1:12.93) and placed second in the 200 breaststroke.
Aaron Saccurato of Chappaqua won the 9-10 boys 100 back (1:16.12), finished second in the 100 breaststroke, in the 50 & 100 fly, and third in the 100 free.
Ian Cooper of Chappaqua won the 9-10 boys 50 back (34.86) and placed third in the 100 fly.
Will Rappaport of Pound Ridge placed first in the 11-12 boys 100 breaststroke (1:16.44); he placed second in the 100 fly, and third in the 100 & 200 free, 50 fly, and 100 & 200 IM.
Jared Krosser of Chappaqua took first in the 11-12 boys 50 breaststroke (37.21).
Also finishing in the Top 3 were Emma Grace Housman, Emma Sawkins, Brittany Chiang, Olivia Lindenberg, Charlie Carr, Alex Rosen, Connor White, and Chris Luboja.

Marlins Go the Distance

The Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins Swim Team held its annual Distance Meet at the Trotta Millennium Pool recently.
Danielle Sims, of Armonk, was a triple winner in the 11-12 girls age group. She finished first in the 500 yd freestyle (5:44.27), in the 1650 free “the mile” (20:08.31) and in the 400 individual medley (5:01.93).
Genna McLaughlin of Mount Kisco won the 10-under girls 500 free (6:22.95) and the 1650 free (22:24.51).
Matthew Hadley, of Chappaqua, was a double winner in the 13-14 boys division, taking the 1650 free (18:53.96) and the 400 IM (4:45.70).
Alexandra Gorki, of Chappaqua, won the 13-14 girls 400 IM (4:50.45).
Charlie Carr, of Brewster, finished first in the 11-12 boys 1650 free (19:54.23), and sixth in the 500 free and 400 IM.

Marlins Swim at Chappy’s Big Race

The other half of the Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins Swim Team traveled to Nassau County to participate in the Annual Long Island Aquatic Club Chappy’s Big Race Invitational. The two-day meet was held at the 10-lane Aquatic Center, at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, New York. About twelve hundred and sixty swimmers competed in this meet.
Emma Grace Housman, of South Salem, won two events for the Marlins, placing first in the 10-under girls 50 yd backstroke (34.51) and 100 back (1:12.13). She placed seventh in the 50 and 100 freestyle and eighth in the 50 breaststroke.
Danielle Sims, of Armonk, was a double winner in the 11-12 girls division. She won the 50 back (30.57) and 50 fly (29.45). Danielle placed second in the 50 free and 100 back, third in the 50 breaststroke and eighth in the 100 breaststroke.
Genna McLaughlin of Mount Kisco won the 10-under girls 50 free (29.49) and finished third in the 100 free, 100 back and 100 breaststroke; fifth in the 50 back and sixth in the 100 butterfly.

Marlins Swim at Halloween Invitational

About half of the Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins Swim Team participated in the Middies Halloween Invitational. The three-day-meet was held at the YWCA six-lane pool in White Plains.
Cate Sawkins, of Chappaqua, was a quadruple winner in the seven-and-under girls division, placed first in the 50 yd freestyle (38.35), 50 backstroke (43.11), 50 breaststroke (55.20) and 50 butterfly (43.08).
Mark McLaughlin, of Mount Kisco, finished in first place in the 7-under boys 50 fly (47.75). He placed second in the 50 back, third in the 50 free and fourth in the 50 breaststroke.
Felipe Carvao, of Chappaqua, won the gold in the 8-year-old boys 50 breaststroke (49.98). He also placed fourth in the 50 fly.

The Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins Swim Team held its first Eight-and-Under meet of the season recently. The one-day meet was held at the Trotta Millennium Pool.
Cate Sawkins, of Chappaqua, and Mark McLaughlin, of Mount Kisco, won four events each and set as many pool records in the seven-under divisions.
Cate won the 7-under girls 25 yd freestyle (17.00), 25 butterfly (19.19), 25 backstroke (21.43) and 25 breaststroke (26.51). Mark placed first in the 25 free (17.42), 25 fly (21.51), 25 back (21.66) and 25 breaststroke (23.35).
Katherine Karle, of Mount Kisco, won the 8-year-old girls 50 fly (41.21), the 50 back (43.77) and the 100 individual medley (1:34.54). She placed second in the 50 free.
Ben Fortier of Chappaqua won the 8-year-old boys 50 fly (49.45), and finished fourth in the 50 free and 100 IM.

Records fall at Marlins Fall Season Starter Meet

Records fell as the Mount Kisco based-Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Marlins Swim Team held its first meet of the short course 2006-07 season at the Trotta Millennium Pool. Seven teams attended the Fall Season Opener in mid-October.
Danielle Sims, of Armonk, won eight events in the 11-12 girls division: the 100 yd freestyle (59.95), 200 free (2:10.01), 100 backstroke (1:05.11), 200 back (2:17.52), 50 butterfly (28.98), 100 fly (1:05.24), 200 fly (2:26.60), and 200 individual medley (2:21.63).

Matthew Hadley, of Chappaqua, won six events in the 13-14 boys division, placing first in the 50 free (25.66), 100 free (55.35), 200 free (1:57.20), 100 back (1:01.00), 200 back (2:13.30), and 200 IM (2:12.47).
Steffi Niessl, of Brewster, and Caren Guyett, of Yorktown, each won five events in the Women Open division. Steffi placed first in the 50 free (25.41 – pool record), 100 back (1:01.15), 200 back (2:10.61), 100 fly (58.68 – pool record), and in the 200 fly (2:11.58). Caren won the 200 free (1:56.15 – pool record), 100 breaststroke (1:11.85), 200 breaststroke (2:35.59), 200 IM (2:14.61) and the 400 IM (4:39.99 – pool record).
Ali Polhill, of Brewster, was a quadruple winner and set one pool record in the 13-14 girls division: the 50 free (25.84), 100 free (55.41), 200 free (2:00.73 – pool record), and the 200 IM (2:15.83).
Matthew Karle, of
Mount Kisco, was also a quadruple winner in the 13-14 boys division: 100 breaststroke (1:09.04), 200 breaststroke (2:31.48), 100 fly (1:03.52), and 200 fly (2:24.04).
Ian Cooper, of Chappaqua, earned the gold in three events in the 9-10 boys division, winning the 50 free (30.80), 50 back (35.11) and 50 breaststroke (42.57).
Charlie Carr of Brewster was a triple winner in the 11-12 boys age group, finishing first in the 200 free (2:08.63 – pool record), 200 back (2:15.96), and 100 fly (1:05.05).
Tristan Hastings of Somers won three events in the men Open division: the 200 free (1:47.72), 200 IM (2:02.37) and 400 IM (4:23.08 – pool record).
Emma Grace Housman, of
South Salem, was a double winner in the 9-10 girls backstroke. She place first in the 50 (34.91) and in the 100 (1:15.23).
Will Rappaport, of Pound Ridge, was a double winner in the 11-12 boys age group: 200 fly (2:26.19), and 200 IM (2:22.74).
Double winner Kim Holden, of
Mount Kisco, set two pool records and qualified for NCSA Junior Nationals in the 13-14 girls division: 100 back (59.05 – Juniors) and 200 back (2:10.71).
