LC Zones: Good luck and swim fast! - entries - Results
Congratulations to Evan B, Mary F, Brian G, Chandler G, Jamie L, Marcel L, Evan O, Robby P, Erica S, and Isabella W
     Erica Silverman finished in 7th place in the 11-12 girls 100 fly in a team record time of 1:10.59L
     Erica Silverman finished in 5th place in the 11-12 girls 200 fly
     Evan Olin won the 15-18 boys 200 fly; 6th in the 400 IM; 6th in the 100 fly
     Brian Glat finished 4th in the 10-under boys 100 back setting a new team record with a time of 1:16.40L.
     Brian Glat also placed 2nd in the 10-under boys 50 back setting a new team record - 36.23L - Brian broke that record leading off the 200 Medley Relay: 35.57L
     Brian Glat finished 8th in the 200 IM with a personal best time of 2:52.52L
 
National Meets: Maddy, Morgan and Evan - Swim Fast in Buffalo at SuperSectionals!
     Morgan finished 9th in the 100 m free with a team record and Junior Nationals bonus time of 59.15L
     Morgan placed 3rd in the 100 m fly with a personal best time of 1:03.08L
     Morgan finished 18th in the 200 fly (2:23.51L) and 10th in the 100 back (1:05.76L) - both personal best times
     On Sunday, Morgan took 10th in the 50 free with a NCSA time and USAS Junior Nat. Bonus time) of 27.21L
     Evan Olin qualified for NCSA Junior Nationals with a 14th place finish in the 200 fly (2:10.47L - team record)

Morgan
(USA Swimming Junior Nationals) -Swim fast at Irvine - Enjoy California
     8/10: Morgan set a new team record in the 100 m freestyle at Juniors - 59.08L
     8/11: Morgan qualified in 12th place in the 100 m fly with a personal best and Senior National time of 1:01.98L - she finished 16th in the event
     8/12: Morgan went 1:06.02L in the 100 m back, just off her best time

Scholastic AA Alert:

The deadline for 2009-2010 Scholastic All-America applications is August 1st.
Applications can be downloaded here or from the USA Swimming 
Scholastic All-America page.
Requirements:
     * High School student-athlete with USA Swimming membership
     * Completed grades 10, 11, or 12
     * 3.5 GPA for current academic year in academic subjects only
     * Individual qualifying time in the USA Times database achieved between July 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010
 
Junior Olympics:

Results - Marlins Records Fall at JOs!!
Cate Sawkins won and set new records in the 10-under girls 100 m free (1:08.95L), 400 m free (5:05.14L), 200 m free (2:27.64L), 50 free (31.44L). Cate also won the 50 back, 100 back and 200 IM - Cate won the 10-Under Girls High Point!
Brian Glat won the 10-under boys 50 m back (36.38L) tying the record held by Will Rappaport.
Erica Silverman set a new team record with a first place in the 11-12 girls 200 m fly (2:33.98L) and in the 400 m IM (5:29.51L). She also placed first in the 50 fly (31.71L). Erica won the second place High Point in the 11-12 girls division.
Robby Purvis set a new team record in the 13-14 boys 50 m back (30.70L)
The 10-under girls team of Cate Sawkins, Gaige Elms, Katie Zaslaw and Karen Dubin set a new record in the 400 free free relay: 5:02.07L
The 11-12 girls set team records in 2 relays: 200 m medley relay: 2:20.46L (Mary Fitzsimmons, Isabella Weiner, Erica Silverman, Jamie Lee) and 400 medley relay: 5:07.39L (Mary, Isabella, Erica and Katherine Karle)
The 13-14 boys set a new record in the 200 m medley relay: 2:08.00L (Robby Purvis, Luke Zhou, Marcel Legros, Liam Hackett); the 200 free relay: 1:54.50L (Marcel, Liam, Robby, Luke); the 400 Free Relay (4:07.25L) (Marcel, Luke, Liam, Robby); and the 400 medley relay: 4:36.45L (Robby, Luke, Marcel, Liam)

Great Swims on Friday:
Morgan Karetnick qualified for USA-Swimming Junior Nationals in the 100 m fly with a second place finish (1:03.27L).
Morgan also finished 9th in the 200 m free (2:08.91L - team record).
Maddy Berkman made finals in the 100 m breaststroke (1:19.86L - 15th) and 100 m fly (1:07.54L - 21st)
Matthew Karle placed 17th in the 100 m breaststroke (1:09.63L) and 10th in the 400 m IM (4:45.57L)
Evan Olin finished 24th in the 100 m fly  (1:02.26L - 1:01.73L at prelims) and 22nd in the 400 m IM (4:59.82L)
Saturday's Recap:
Morgan Karetnick finished 9th in the 200 m IM (2:26.48L). Morgan also finished 9th in the 100 m back with a Junior Nat. Bonus time of 1:06.24L
Matthew Karle finished in 9th place in the IM (2:14.00L).
Taegan Clarke placed 14th in the 100 m back (1:02.59L)
Sunday's Recap:
Kim Holden finished first in the 200 m back (2:17.57L) and 5th in the 100 m free (1:00.36L - team record)
Morgan Karetnick placed 9th in the 200 m fly (1:06.24L)

Katie Duncalf placed 5th in the 200 m back (2:25.47L)

First Marlins Records of the Season fell at Condors Fall Festival! Records
Congratulations to Ali Polhill - The Journal News Con Ed Award Winner for the week of October 17, 2009- The Con Edison Athlete of the Week recognizes students in Westchester and Putnam schools who excel athletically.
Academic achievements, leadership, citizenship, school and community activities are also factors. The winner is selected each week by a panel of athletic directors and coaches who review ballots submitted by each athlete's athletic director or coach. Read More

Scholastic All-America team boasts 1500 members this year
 (9/30/2009) -
USA Swimming is proud to announce that 1500 women and men have been named to the

2008-09 Scholastic All-America Team.  This is an increase of over 50 percent from the 2007-08 team.
The 2008-09 team is composed of 905 women and 595 men.  Two-thirds of the team members achieved a 4.0 GPA.  Over 13 percent of the athletes achieved SAA status for three years.  more

USA-Swimming Alert:
USA Swimming Adopts October 1st Ban on Full-Body Suits - At its annual Convention on Saturday, over 400 USA Swimming Delegates, representing swim clubs from all 50 states, voted overwhelmingly for early implementation of a ban on high-tech swimsuits. The legislation, which will go into effect on October 1st, regulates swimsuits worn in all USA Swimming–sanctioned competitions. More Information

Westchester Scholastic Sports Award Program - sponsored by Con Edison

Congratulations to Kim Holden, a senior at Fox Lane High School.
Kim was awarded the Anthony Sabella Scholarship at the 58th annual dinner held at the Rye Town Hilton on Wednesday, June 3rd. This scholarship is given for perseverance, dedication, leadership and outstanding achievement!
Kim was the Con Edison Scholar Athlete of the Week (November 15, 2008).
